Winter is a wonderful time to visit Anglesey.
If you’ve never considered a break in North Wales because the weather puts you off, think again, as you’d be very surprised at what Anglesey can offer during the winter months.
Granted, it’s perhaps not going to appeal to fair-weather holidaymakers, and let’s be real, we’ll never have the weather of say, the Canaries! Winter on Anglesey can be a grey and wet affair, not entirely for some folks…
BUT, if you can see past the occasional gales (*cough*), and as long as you pack the right clothing (take plenty of warm layers), the beaches, mountains, lakes and forests offer a breathtaking landscape that is striking and beautiful.
Winter brings spectacular storms and fabulous skies, and also exhilarating beach and clifftop walks, whilst snowdrops and winter aconites really flourish during the colder months. Anglesey has a unique micro-climate that isn’t aligned to the rest of North Wales. Even if it’s blowing a gale and rain on one side of the island, it’s often calm and dry on the other side.
Festive events like the Plas Newydd Christmas Fair and Beaumaris Victorian Christmas Markets and Gaol Ghost Hunt bring an extra touch of magic to the island in these darker months. Amlwch town and port twinkle with Christmas lights, whilst Oriel Amlwch, Artisan Studio and Cardiau Môn Cards have perfect gifts for family and friends, any time of the year.
Trac Môn Anglesey Circuit holds regular events all year, so be sure to check out their website for details.
